I'll begin with a confession: I ordered this product from an infomercial. On TV, it seemed to be the perfect all-in-one solution to every skin snafu from hair removal, to cellulite and exfoliation. The idea is, that this battery powered unit (that can also be plugged into the wall) rotates in a clockwise motion and depending on the attachment that you use it will make your skin lovely, vibrant, and hair- free.
Not Quite.
It says that you have to use the Derma Seta until at least 12 times until you achieve the desired hair removal results, but they only sent me five of the 20 crystal hair removal pads that were promised to me on the infomercial. The pads remove hair for about 3 minutes and then you have to change it. So with my little TV kit, there was no hope of using the Derma Seta 12 times to see whether it would work well or not.
I decided to give this thing a whirl on my fine arm hair. I thought the results would be more noticeable. After five minutes of rubbing the pad on my left arm, my skin was definitely exfoliated, but the hair remained.
Not Impressed.
I attached the skin buffer in the hopes of buffing my exfoiliated arm into a silky smooth appendage. Nothing happened.
I can't say much for the cellulite massage heads. It feels sort of disturbing and the sound of the Derma Seta is so loud that I'm sure my neighbours think I'm using a different appliance!
Hoping to put my embarrassment aside, I whipped out the little stick that you're supposed to use on your lady moustache. I rubbed, as instructed in a circular motion and inspected. Nothing. Thankfully, my stashe is not that plentiful to begin with, but really... this was useless. Except for the sexy rash that arose on said area a few minutes later. Now I had a scaly, irritated red lady moustache.
At this point, I was not about to try the Derma Set on my bikini line.
The one thing I do love about the Derma Set is the facial brush attachment. My skin doesn't exfoliate very well and this soft brush worked magic with my cleanser to make my skin soft and glow-y. But, it hardly seems worth the price of $29.99 + $29.99 shipping and handling, plus tax, etc... it came to almost $100.00! I did get a free one for my sister-in-law, and I'm curious to see her take on it. The other minus, is that if you don't like it, you have to send it back and pay the S&H yourself for the 30 day money back guarantee. So if you don't like the Derma Seta, you're out $60 bucks for S&H.
The moral of the story? Infomercials are evil. I would not recommend the Derma Seta to anyone.

I used it for the first time today on my legs...my leg hair is REALLY fine like arm hair so I thought for sure this was going to make my legs super soft and hairless. Well my legs are soft now but I also have a red rash and they feel hot...and a few patches where the hair actually came off. And OMG its SOOO noisy!

ReplyDeleteThis machine is working like a high speed razor, which can cut your hair with his small size thousands of blades at a time. New pad is having thousands of fine sharp edges over it and with the high speed of rotation it can cut your hair very easily.
But now the problem is to know about the life of pad, which is depends upon the area on which you are going to apply. If your hair length is not that much (high than 4mm) and very light in strength then, you can use one pad for your both legs. And, if it more than 4mm and if you got the hard one, then you may require two pads for both legs.
Actually this pad is working on the principle of contact blade friction and cutting.
In case of new pad, the contact area of fine blade is less with your skin. It can cut your hair very smoothly up to blade edges are fine.
Once the edges start getting course headed then the contact area of that pad with skin will become relatively more and obviously it will cut very less hair on that time. And, together with this it will start giving you scratches all over the area (If in any case it will happen with you like this, then please use some non-allergic lotion on it or concern your doctor).
Possibly now, this is an clear indication of changing your pad.
Frankly speaking it is a high speed blade machine, worth of Rs3500/- and with the each blade of Rs60/-
For rough and tough women, blade will worth of Rs120/- at a time and for delicate one Rs60/-( it depends upon person to person). And you already know that, how much tough you are. He he…..:)

hell i was going to oder this derma seta thanks 2 al of u to safe us .actuly i realisd nw that these al product r fake cuz onec a time ago i bought true cover and sheer cover a makup base kit it was just hel they said it was amaizngly covr ur dark spots etc but it didnt cover anythng and more over when i wash my face it remve like milk .to knw abt ths protdct nw i cn frely and sure to say that al thesf onlne product are totly f5op and fake failed .

ReplyDeletehey guys!! stop.. donot order this shit.. the hair removal they show and exfoliation is using a rotating head is crap, its like u rub a rough surface onto ur skin and the hair is shaved off and outer layer of skin is peeled...its a total waste of money, Razors are better cos regrowth will be the same.. its a waste of money..dont buy.. instead go for an epilator(braun) which i have been using since 10 years.. the pain factor provoked me to order derma seta seeing it on tv..i guarantee u its a waste

Only if bought the product original i could have given a fair experience. DO not save money from these cheap delhi based companies since the original is only from mumbai.

A total DUPLICATE MAAL, it looked sooo much like the original Derma Seta that I bought. Derma Seta is a good product, I am happy with it. No wonder so many companies copying it!

I have just ordered the product from delhi and after getting into the details found the only company giving derma seta is televanatage.in based out of mumbai and there are 2 kinds of derma seta basic and deluxe. Spoke with the given numbers on call center and they told me the difference and additional pads are also available. I have ordered n hope it works good... btr quit derma seta n switch onto ELYN CREAM twice daily as suggested by my doctor it will reduce the growth of hair but it is not a hair remover does not cause any skin problems but its a bit costly if a person apply this crm for 3months growth of hair will reduce :)

ReplyDeleteHi. I am surprised by these reviews. I am in Australia and purchased a Derma Seta from danoz direct. I am a hairy male, and have tried nearly every hair removal there is. I used it for the first time about 1 hour ago, and in 20 mins, my chest and stomach were hair free!!!!! I then used the "buffer" pad as directed. Then some moistuiser. Yes, there was some redness, but that has gone now. I just wish they made an extension handle so I could use it on my back!! Danoz Direct have an offer where they send 65 hair removal pads, which all came! It took 3 pads to do chest and stomach (I'm a big lad) so I guess it's fonna last me at least 22 goes! Hopefully it will take less and less pads each time.

ReplyDeleteHi, I received this as a gift, and "it did work somewhat", by breaking the hair on my legs to a shorter length. That is how it worked. I highly do NOT recommend this product for hair removal.
ReplyDeleteHi, thanks for the review. I've been half hearted about buying this but finding myself quite tempted the the hotter and stickier the weathers getting. I cant believe it takes so long to work for fine hair and is harsh to the skin. My skin reacts very easily so its abrasiveness is not ideal for me and since I have black hair (in comparison to other hair colours is supposed to be thicker and heavier) I expect this product has no chance of working on my skin.

After using the product I am left with permanent dark patches on my skin which made my life miserable..I cannot wear short/half sleeves..I have to cover my hands and legs with embarrassment of the dark patches which is left permanent on my skin and I can proof this by showing my skin.

I used to use the Derma e products, but I switched to Made from Earth products and I like them so much better!! I have stopped buying high end Department Store brands, as they cannot hold a candle to Made from Earth product line. I am 46 with Adult Acne, sensitive skin, prone to dryness despite it being oily, and I have found that the Vitamin Firming Serum works great on my skin to look it's best without any chemicals. I may have slight roseaca and it does not cause any irritations. Only a small amount is needed and it absorbs quickly. I have had no problems with breakouts or blackheads since using this product.
